If you are looking to reduce your waste and connect with like-minded Edmontonians, look no further! Waste Free Edmonton is hosting our 2nd Sustainability Social. Let’s connect and reduce our footprint together.
Join us at the Bell in Scona at 5:30 to mix and mingle before presentations begin at 6PM. The Repair Cafe will begin at 7:30 PM. Your ticket includes delicious vegetarian appetizers and a drink ticket, additional beverages will be available for purchase.
This is a ticketed event. Please purchase your ticket using the “Website” link to Eventbrite below.
We are stacked with special guests:
- Sarah of Blenderz Garment Recyclers will speak about the global problem of textile waste, second hand clothing markets, and how Blenderz is working to address the problem.
- Katrina from Earth Warrior Lifestyle will present on zero waste living and how Earth Warrior is addressing the problem of textile waste through recycling
- Waste Free Edmonton’s textile specialist Lauren will present on the actions individuals, companies, government, and non-profit organizations (like Waste Free Edmonton!) can take to combat textile waste.
- Last but certainly not least… Do you have something that needs mending? Bring it with you! Rachel McQueen and The University of Alberta’s human ecology repair cafe will be on site with the supplies and knowledge you need to repair so you don’t have to replace. They will provide basic supplies and sewing machines, but if you need help with something that requires an additional material (like replacing a zipper, for example), please bring your own.
We cannot wait to see you at this incredible event! Don’t forget to bring along any of your well-loved clothing items that are in need of a repair. This is sure to be a fabulous evening of learning, sharing, and mending.
