Let’s Make a Change!
Edmonton City Council is planning a Single-Use Plastics ban to come into effect in 2021. You can find our Proposed Framework for the City of Edmonton Single-Use Plastics Bylaw here.
If we want City Council to act on this issue it needs to hear from you! There are a few easy and important ways you can show your support for City Council taking meaningful action to address the Single-Use Plastics problem:
- Online Petition – Sign the Online Petition, and encourage your family and friends to do the same.
- Paper Petition–Print/sign the Single-Use Plastics petition. Even better, become a Petition Champion by asking others to sign – friends, family, co-workers, neighbours. You can even take a copy of the petition door-to-door. The more signatures the better! When you are done, contact us, and we will arrange to pick it up.
- Business Sign on Letter – If you own/manage an Edmonton business, become a signatory to our Business Sign On Letter. If you work in grocery, retail, or the hospitality industry, ask your manager to sign on (we don’t need an actual signature – just confirmation that your business agrees with what is written).
- Write to Your Councillor – Write directly to your City Councillor asking them to support a single-use plastics strategy. Please click on your Ward below to show your support – a draft email is already prepared for you. If you are unsure who the Councillor is in your Ward, find out here.
